If leveling were difficult, then I would say just boost. Also, Guild Wars 2 encourages you to make alts and many of them. Most high end gear is account bound, so you're not redoing anything by making new characters. I would use your first character to play through the game and learn the ropes. Ultimately, go with what is the most fun for you. Don't worry though! Hitting level 80 is a relatively quick process. Leveling up in GW2 is more of an extended learning process, the 'real' game starts at the level cap. Getting lvl 80 gear isn't very hard either. I'd say pick up the expacs, enjoy the core story and leveling proces and use it to get a feel for the game, then jump into the jungle. I picked up HoT and figured I'd get back into the game recently, and I got a token for a level 80 boost. I wanted to know if I should use the boost now, or if it's important for whatever reason that I go through the 1-80 experience. Yes to both. :) This is not well-explained in the game itself, but using the token does not consume it. I haven't tried the lvl 80-boost gear with legendary runes/sigils so I can't offer a definite answer here (Legendary stuff is *supposed* to be removable for free). She made a new character after buying end of dragons, and went to use the level 80 boost during her new character tutorial. It said congratulations, and then nothing happened. After completion of the tutorial, she was still only level 2 and her level 80 boost is gone, despite having never used it. You can use it as a infinite trial on infinite characters before you actually consume it permanently and boost your character to lvl 80. Meaning you are free to make a new lvl 1 character, double click the booster, temporary boost the character to lvl 80 with all skills and traits unlocked and play whatever and however you wish in a lvl 80 zone I really like narrative and stories in my games, but it is taking me a long time to level my character to max. I started a month ago and am now at level 55, but I’m tempted to use the boost to speed things up. I just wanted to know if I will be able to replay personal stories or such cause I real I have a level 80 Engineer, but I wanted to do something else. Ive been using the trial for the boost to mess around with classes and I enjoyed Revenant the most, as I was looking for a death knightish class, and I know the reaper exists but Rev just seems cooler, animations and playstyle-wise, and Im not a fan of scourge/harbringer, Renegade zz2BFBa.
